We have taken practical steps to reduce our environmental impact and conserve resources, while also providing clear information about the features and accessibility of our home.

Our Green Story
At Casa de Mara we believe that enjoying the natural beauty of Minca also means helping to protect it. Our approach is based on practical measures to conserve water and energy, reduce waste and single-use items, and encourage our guests to get to know and support the local community. We are constantly looking for new ways to improve our environmental practices while providing a comfortable and memorable stay.
☀️Solar Energy and Energy
Casa de Mara has a solar power backup system that provides backup electricity when power outages occur.The system helps maintain essential services during power outages and reduces our dependence on conventional electricity during these interruptions.
We also encourage our guests to use energy responsibly, by turning off lights, air conditioning, and other electrical equipment when not needed.
💧 Water Treatment and Conservation
Water is especially important in the mountainous environment of Minca.Casa de Mara has an integrated water treatment and purification system that incorporates several stages of filtration and sterilization using ultraviolet (UV) light.
Water intended for consumption receives additional treatment through reverse osmosis.
This system allows us to provide treated and purified water while reducing our dependence on disposable plastic bottles
We also encourage our guests to use water responsibly and avoid unnecessary consumption.
♻️ Reduction of Single-Use Items
Casa de Mara does not provide individual plastic water bottles to our guests.Our water treatment system allows you to have purified water without relying on single-use plastic bottles.
We encourage our guests to bring and use reusable bottles, especially when exploring Minca and the nearby natural areas.
Reducing unnecessary disposable items is part of our ongoing commitment to more responsible practices.

Casa de Mara is surrounded by the natural environment of the Minca mountains, a region known for its forests, rivers, wildlife, coffee plantations and biodiversity.We encourage our guests to help protect this environment:
• Not leaving trash in natural areas.
• Respecting wildlife and natural habitats.
• Staying on established trails when appropriate.
• Conserving water and energy.
• Leaving natural spaces as they found them.

We have created a Minca Guide to help our guests discover the attractions, restaurants, activities, nature experiences, and other places in the area.We encourage our guests to support local guides, restaurants, producers, artisans, and other locally operated businesses.
Minca also offers many opportunities to enjoy the destination by walking, hiking, bird watching and participating in nature-related experiences.
Our goal is to help our guests live authentic experiences while contributing to the community and the local economy.

♿ Accessibility at Casa de Mara
Casa de Mara is not accessible to people in wheelchairs. Casa de Mara is a two-story mountain house located in Minca, Colombia. Due to its location and the natural features of the terrain, some areas may present difficulties for guests with reduced mobility. We provide the following information so that our guests can learn about the property's features and access before booking.
🏡 Property Distribution
Casa de Mara has two levels.On the main floor there are:
• One bedroom
• A bathroom
The bedroom and bathroom on the main floor can be reached without using stairs between these two areas.
The bathroom on the main floor is not wheelchair accessible.
The remaining bedrooms and bathrooms are located on the second level and require climbing stairs.
There is no fully wheelchair accessible route on the entire property.
🚗 Getting to Casa de Mara
The last stretch of the journey to Casa de Mara, approximately 7 minutes, is currently done on an unpaved mountain road.Road conditions can vary, especially after periods of rain.
A new paved road is currently under construction, with completion scheduled for early 2027.
Until the work is completed, guests should expect the final stretch of the journey to include an unpaved mountain road.
🛏️ Bedrooms and Bathrooms
A bedroom and a bathroom are located on the main floor.The other bedrooms and bathrooms are located on the second level and require the use of stairs.
The bathroom on the main floor is not wheelchair accessible.
🏊 Pool and Outdoor Areas
Casa de Mara features a private pool, terraces and various outdoor spaces.Due to the natural mountain environment, some outdoor areas include:
• Stairs
• Irregular surfaces
• Earrings
• Level changes
• Natural terrain
These features may present difficulties for guests with reduced mobility.
🌿 Natural Mountain Environment
Casa de Mara's location in the mountains of Minca means that the natural terrain is an important part of the experience.Guests should be prepared to encounter uneven surfaces, changes in elevation, stairs, and the currently unpaved section of the access road.
